Στις 11.11.11 οι θρυλικοί Black Sabbath ανακοίνωσαν ότι επανασυνδέονται!

Οι Black Sabbath, με την αρχική και αυθεντική τους σύνθεση- το original line up- δηλαδή οι: OZZY OSBOURNE (φωνή), TONY IOMMI (κιθάρα), GEEZER BUTLER (μπάσο) και BILL WARD (ντραμς)- δήλωσαν ότι θα εμφανιστούν ως headliners στα διασημότερα και μεγαλύτερα Ευρωπαϊκά φεστιβάλ το 2012.

Πρόκειται για την επανένωση της δεκαετίας!

Η περιοδεία τους ξεκινά την Παρασκευή 18 Μαΐου στη Μόσχα και θα φέρει τους Black Sabbath στο παγκόσμιο κοινό, ακόμα και σε χώρες όπου δεν έχουν παίξει ποτέ πριν ή σε άλλες, που έχουν να επισκεφθούν πάνω από τρεις δεκαετίες.

Οι BLACK SABBATH είναι το συγκρότημα που επινόησε τη metal μουσική. Αυτό το line up γέννησε, διέδωσε και επέβαλε το heavy metal. Ο πρώτος δίσκος του συγκροτήματος με τίτλο το όνομα τους, Black Sabbath, άλλαξε το πρόσωπο της μουσικής για πάντα. Πήραν τη σκληρή μουσική της εποχής τους, τα σκληρά μπλουζ, τους άλλαξαν πρόσωπο, και τα μετέτρεψαν σε κάτι καινούργιο που αργότερα ονομάστηκε heavy metal μουσική.

Οι BLACK SABBATH, αυτήν την περίοδο, με το αρχικό και πιο πετυχημένο τους σχήμα ηχογραφούν το πρώτο studio album τους μετά από 33 ολόκληρα χρόνια, με παραγωγό τον θρυλικό RICK RUBIN, που θα κυκλοφορήσει παγκοσμίως το φθινόπωρο του 2012.

Όλοι οι μουσικοί έχουν επηρεαστεί από τους BLACK SABBATH και έχουν αναφερθεί με δηλώσεις τους σε αυτούς. Μεταξύ αυτών και ο σπουδαίος performer Henry Rollins: "Η μουσική των BLACK SABBATH είναι η απόλυτη κινητήρια δύναμη. Κάθε αξιόλογο συγκρότημα που αξίζει το βάρος του σε ναπάλμ θα ήθελε να έχει γράψει το ‘War Pigs’. Οι κριτικοί ποτέ δεν το κατανόησαν, αλλά οι fans το αγάπησαν, το κατάλαβαν και ακόμη τους συγκινεί. Η μηχανή-μουσικός οδοστρωτήρας βάζει μπροστά τους κυλίνδρους της και επιστρέφει στην Ελλάδα, με το καλύτερο ίσως album του 2011, Unto the Locust, που καταφέρνει να σταθεί αντάξια δίπλα στο δίσκο-ορόσημο της καριέρας τους, The Blackening.

Με τις οργιώδεις κιθάρες του αχτύπητου δίδυμου Flynn-Demmel οδηγούμαστε… Into glory we will ride! Με το καυστικό τους debut album Burn my eyes μας έδειξαν τι σημαίνει να κοχλάζει το αίμα σαρώνοντας τους ενισχυτές με κολασμένα riffs!

Οι Machine Head ξεκίνησαν εκεί που δημιουργήθηκε και εξαπλώθηκε το thrash metal, ακολουθώντας τα βήματα συγκροτημάτων όπως οι Metallica και οι Slayer. Σκοτεινοί, βάρβαροι, ακραίοι αλλά ταυτόχρονα προσιτοί και μοντέρνοι, σημάδεψαν μια νεότερη γενιά καλλιτεχνών και θεωρούνται από τους fans ως «σωτήρες του heavy metal». Είναι το πιο πολλά υποσχόμενο συγκρότημα του 21ου αιώνα. Ίσως και της χιλιετίας.

Το μουσικό κύμα της New Metal θα τους μεταφέρει από το Bay Area της Καλιφόρνια κατευθείαν στο δικό μας RockWave!

Οι αγαπημένοι αυτοκράτορες του Ευρωπαϊκού doom/goth metal, επανέρχονται δριμύτεροι στη χώρα μας με τον ολοκαίνουριο δίσκο τους Tragic Idol για να αποδείξουν για μια ακόμη φορά με πόση μαεστρία δένουν την μελαγχολική ατμόσφαιρα με το δυνατό και σκληρό ήχο.

Είναι η βρετανική metal ελίτ που έχει πάντα ολοκληρωμένη αισθητική πρόταση στις live εμφανίσεις της, που συνδυάζει λιτότητα με δυναμισμό, στίχους και μελωδίες που κονταροχτυπιούνται για την πρωτιά, ξεδιπλώνοντας τις πιο σκοτεινές πτυχές του μυαλού.

Το συγκρότημα έχει οδηγηθεί στην κορυφή του μεταλλικού στερεώματος, αντιμετωπίζοντας κάθε καινούριο δίσκο σαν ένα νέο ξεκίνημα, σαν μια πορεία προς το άγνωστο σε ανεξερεύνητα μονοπάτια και καταφέρνει πάντα να αφήσει ένα ανεξίτηλο σημάδι στην εξέλιξη της μουσικής.

Το κατά-δικό μας stoner συγκρότημα που τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει γνωρίσει μεγάλη επιτυχία στην Ελλάδα αλλά και στο εξωτερικό. Η ωμή, ειλικρινής και συνεχώς εξελισσόμενη σκηνική τους παρουσία, τους έχει εξασφαλίσει ένα πιστό hardcore underground κοινό που τους ακολουθεί. Με την απαραίτητη δόση τεστοστερόνης τα live τους είναι ηλεκτρισμένα, βαριά και το headbanging δίνει και παίρνει. Θεωρούνται από πολλούς το επόμενο μεγάλο συγκρότημα… Μένει να το αποδείξουν στη σκηνή του Rockwave.

Οι Lucky Funeral δημιουργήθηκαν το 2007. Ξεκινώντας σαν ένα stoner συγκρότημα, πλέον συνδυάζουν ένα κράμα επιρροών από metal, grunge, sludge, και έχουν ήδη κυκλοφορήσει δυο full length album. Έχουν πραγματοποιήσει πάνω από 120 live εμφανίσεις μέσα σε τέσσερα χρόνια ζωής και έχουν μοιραστεί τη σκηνή με μεγάλα συγκροτήματα του χώρου.

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN To Release 'Everything Is Changing' In January

ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN & AGUA DE ANNIQUE's third album, "In Your Room", was released on October 30, 2009. The 12-song effort was written entirely by Anneke except for two tracks: "Just Fine" was co-written with Devin Townsend and "Adore" was composed by AGUA DE ANNIQUE bassist Jacques de Haard and Cyril Crutz.

In a new interview with Revolver magazine, Cristina Scabbia stated about "Dark Adrenaline", "I really feel that it is really, really a good album with good songs. I think that it totally captures the essence of LACUNA COIL because it's definitely a mixture of our roots and something completely new. We never repeated ourself with any album, but this one, it's a perfect balance between the old stuff and the new. And the new stuff, it's more obscure than the usual. It's definitely heavier — the sound is way heavier than we did before. A lot of people will be surprised. I think so. . . I believe that, you know, it's something that they don't really expect from us. They probably expect us to go, I don't know, more melodic and mellow and actually this is not the direction we are taking. [Laughs] We're kind of getting heavier while everybody else is getting mellower. [Laughs]"

When asked if she and her bandmates specific aims when they went into the studio, Cristina said, "No, not really, because I think that when you are writing songs, it's not about what you want to achieve. You just go with the flow and you just like what you hear. And if you like something, you just, like, work on it. I don't think it would make sense for us just to think about a song or like, Oh, the album is going to sound like that. That wouldn't be honest and that wouldn't be hard, you know? Of course, you kind of know what you want to do, just because you know that's your taste, but you don't really know what's gonna be the final result. You just, you know, put down layers and layers and layers and layers, and then you just hear the result at the very end. Actually, after the mixing you're just like, Oh, wow! [Laughs] It's hard to see things, you know. You just kind of draw the image of what you think it's gonna be, but you don't really know what's gonna be in the end."

NIGHTWISH's 'Storytime' Single Tops Finnish Chart

"Storytime", the new single from Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH, has topped the official chart in Finland.

"Storytime" was released as a single on Friday, November 11 via Nuclear Blast Records. The song comes off NIGHTWISH's new album, "Imaginaerum", which is due in North America on January 10, 2012 via Roadrunner Records. The CD is the band's first since 2007's "Dark Passion Play", which was then-new singer Anette Olzon's debut.

The band examined its catalog when sitting down to write what would become "Imaginaerum". The songs for the album were written between 2008 and 2010, after the "Dark Passion Play" tour cycle ended.

At that point, NIGHTWISH knew they wanted to do something different, new and unique, which is exceptional for a band whose career has been defined by words like different, new and unique!

The band consciously wanted to do something so big, crossover, detailed, innovative and, well, "nuts," that it would leave the band, and hopefully the people experiencing it, completely awestruck. It would be a situation where fans and/or critics would either love it or hate it, but they'd be left awestruck nonetheless. That's when the band realized another dimension, namely video, was necessary for the project.

Instead of a concept album, the band set the album to a film.

"The original idea I had was to film 13 short stories related to the songs with a connected storyline, shot by Stobe Harju," keyboardist/songwriter Tuomas Holopainen said. It was Harju's idea to turn the 13 stories and visions into more of a connected cinematic piece — essentially, a film. It would have a clear plot, script, dialogue and real actors in an ambitious effort to create something wholly unique.The film was shot in September of this year.

The movie is based on the album and its 13 tracks, honoring the original ideas, but having evolved radically from the initial plan. Holopainen said, "Still, it was important from the very beginning that the album would work as its own individual piece of art, as well. It is a thematic album about life itself, about imagination, love, goodness and beauty, with a touch of darkness and melancholy, which are strongly included in all of those things mentioned."

The band will have but a small part in the film. A 2012 premiere date is being eyed.

NIGHTWISH will kick off the "Imaginaerum" world tour in Los Angeles. The very first show of the trek will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Saturday, January 21. This will be the biggest NIGHTWISH show production ever on North American soil and strictly a one-off — there will be no U.S. tour until later in 2012.

GRIM REAPER Frontman Doesn't 'See Much Of A Resemblance' To Greek Finance Minister

Vocalist Steve Grimmett of '80s British metal band GRIM REAPER recently made headlines in Greece due to what many say is an uncanny resemblance between the singer and Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos.

Videos of Grimmett, with comments about his dead-on similarity to Venizelos, began circulating on Greek web sites and satirical shows after GRIM REAPER played a series of gigs in Athens, Thessaloniki, Komotini and Ioannina last week.

"From the moment I set foot in your country, everybody says I look like your minister," Grimmett, 52, told the Greek newspaper Ta Nea. "To tell you the truth, I don't see much of a resemblance. Perhaps a few years ago, when I had a few extra kilos. This gentleman is quite fat, despite the fact that he probably has quite a lot to do." He added, "I'm not sure, but I think there's something evil hiding behind his gaze."

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Venizelos, 54, has made few friends in recession-plagued Greece for spearheading an austerity drive of wage cuts and tax hikes to secure bailout loans from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.

A new GRIM REAPER live CD is in the final mixing stages and a U.S. tour is currently being scheduled for March/April 2012 with the help of Artists Worldwide. The trek, which will tentatively consist of 18 shows, will mark the first time Steve Grimmett has played a full GRIM REAPER set on U.S. soil in 25 years. Steve says, "I'm looking forward to getting out there, as are my bandmembers. It's been 25 years since I toured out there last. Maybe I'll get to see a few familiar faces!" He adds, "The live album is sounding great. Can't wait to get it released".

Εκπληκτικό live παρακολουθήσαμε την Τετάρτη το βράδυ στην πόλη μας (Θεσσαλονίκη),απο τους γερόλυκους Whitesnake και τους απόλυτους metal gods "Judas Priest"(ο λόγος που παρεβρέθηκα στο Καυταντζόγλειο). Να με συγχωρέσουν τα υπόλοιπα συγκροτήματα, τα οποία δέν πρόλαβα να παρακολουθήσω.

Παρά το γεγονός οτι ο κόσμος δέν ήταν αρκετός για ένα τέτοιο event, όσοι τυχεροί παρεβρέθησαν πέρασαν -απο ότι είδα και εγώ- υπέροχα.

Ένα μόνο σχόλιο έχω να κάνω, έζησα για λίγο ξανά τα νιάτα μου, πίσω στη δεκαετία του '80.

Παραθέτω μερικά videos απο οπαδούς, που αλίευσα απο το youtube. Εγώ δεν τράβηξα τίποτε αυτή την φορά, ήθελα μόνο να απολαύσω.

IN FLAMES recently recruited Niclas Engelin from fellow Swedes ENGEL as the band's new second guitarist.

The band, which released the back-to-back, modern classics, 2004's "Through the Ashes Of Empires" and 2007's "The Blackening", is aiming to unleash its third masterwork in a row on September 27 via longtime label Roadrunner Records. The as-yet untitled new album is being recorded at JingleTown Studios in Oakland, with frontman Robb Flynn producing, and it is sure to level anything and everything that happens upon its path.

MACHINE HEAD will prepare for the release of their new album by appearing on the main stage of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for key dates, while headlining the Extreme Stage for others, this summer, which kicks off this July. This is the band's second tour of duty on Mayhem, as they appeared on the festival during its inaugural run in 2008.

An advance mix of "Locust" will be on sale at iTunes on June 14 and will be included on an iTunes Mayhem digital sampler. Download cards for the digital sampler will be distributed at every date of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival so fans can redeem the song after being summarily kicked in the face by MACHINE HEAD's always devastating live show.

"We've been working on the record for a few weeks now, and when the opportunity to be a part of the free Mayhem sampler came up, we did not want to pass up the chance," said MACHINE HEAD vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn. "We're so pumped for our fans to hear the new music that we're so proud of."

Flynn went a little deeper about the meaning of the song, saying, "'Locust' is a metaphor. Locusts fly in a swarm, but they can't control which direction they fly; they float on the wind, they land, cause massive destruction, and then float away on the wind to leave you in the aftermath. The song is a metaphor for a type of person that sometimes comes into your life and has a similar effect."

Musically, the song is the essence of what MACHINE HEAD have been doing for nearly two decades. "It feels like the culmination of what we've been doing for the last 17 years: power grooves, patented MACHINE HEAD harmonics, crushing guitars and dark melodies, but taken to a new level," Flynn said. "It's a natural progression from 'The Blackening', but different than anything on that record. In the past, when we debuted a new song, it was usually the fastest, thrashiest tune. This time we wanted to go with something just straight-up heavy."

The song is eight minutes in length, which is not unfamiliar territory for the band. Flynn even joked, "We still can't seem to write a damn song under six minutes. But MACHINE HEAD aren't writing music for the radio or MTV. This is for us. This is for the metalhead who let's music take him on a journey. This for the metalhead for whom music is the only thing that matters, to whom music is a savior. The music fan who's going to study every detail of the artwork, go online and find the lyrics and memorize every word, and let it take them away from their fucked up life for a while. It's for the music freak, who maybe just wants to get hammered, air-guitar and sing at the top of his lungs, and act like an friggin' idiot while starting a moshpit in their living room with reckless abandon. Because that's who wrote this song, and that is the only people we care about connecting with."

Flynn finished, "We know you'll be as excited about it as we are, so Head Cases, on June 14, check out 'Locust'."

"Locust" is a true metal anthem from these metal torchbearers, and it's erected upon the band's signature, crunchy guitar tone, pummeling riffage, a thunderstorm of percussion and Flynn's militaristic barks. "Locust" is one of those cathartic, "gets the red out" songs that will incite moshpits across the globe and cause the listener to be purged of all their anger (and exhausted from rocking the hell out) once the last note fades out.

Μαυρίλα και ακρότητα παλαιάς κοπής στο “Eye of Sin” των Profane Prayer, που θα γραπώσει από το λαιμό όλους τους οπαδούς της old-school black metal σκηνής. Μέλη των Hordes of Decay (που έχουν φιλοξενηθεί παλιότερα στη στήλη) φαίνεται ότι έχουν πολλά ακόμη πράγματα να πουν, γι’ άλλη μία φορά μέσα από το black metal, αλλά από άλλη υποκατηγορία του. Το “Eye of Sin” περιέχει 9 tracks «τετρακαναλάτου» black, αλλά κάθε άλλο από retro, νοσταλγικό ή χαοτικό (όσο αφορά στον ήχο) μπορεί να χαρακτηριστεί. Η σκοτεινιά των παλιών Darkthrone, το σαδομαζοχιστικό rock ‘n’ black ‘n’ roll (χμμμ…) των Carpathian Forest και η μηδενιστική προσέγγιση των Impaled Nazarene μοιάζουν να είναι οι βασικές επιρροές του συγκροτήματος, επιρροές που οι Profane Prayer χρησιμοποιούν ως αφετηρία για να δημιουργήσουν τη διεστραμμένη ατμόσφαιρά τους. Πρέπει να ομολογήσω ότι είμαι εντυπωσιασμένος από τον ήχο του CD καθώς, ενώ καταφέρνει να διατηρήσει απολύτως το old-school συναίσθημα, ταυτόχρονα ακούγεται ιδιαίτερα μοντέρνος και καθαρός, αποκτώντας έτσι «χαρακτήρα». Το CD κλείνει με το “Redemption”, κομμάτι αργόσυρτο και «διαφορετικό», με κάποια (ας πούμε) ακουστικά περάσματα κι ένα από τα καλύτερα και πιο ταιριαστά solo κιθάρας που έχετε ακούσει τον τελευταίο καιρό. Μετά από αυτό το άκουσμα, δύσκολα αποφεύγεις το “repeat” στο CD-player. (9)

Packing an armory of steel-coated riffs and songwriting swagger, British hard rock legends SAXON will release their 19th studio album titled "Call To Arms" via Militia Guard Music, UDR and EMI on the following dates:

Recorded at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, U.K. and Brighton Electric Studios in Brighton, U.K., the 11-track album was co-produced by singer/songwriter Biff Byford and Toby Jepson (LITTLE ANGELS). "We put something up on our website 24 hours before recording the track in Brighton, and funnily enough we had exactly 79 people show up on time to sing on the song. It was a fantastic result which is a direct tribute to 'Denim & Leather' where we did the same exact thing."

There is also a guest appearance from keyboard legend Don Airey (RAINBOW, ELO, OZZY OSBOURNE, DEEP PURPLE) on "When Doomsday Comes".

"We were at the American embassy in different lines queuing for our visas and by the time we'd got them, Don had agreed to come and play on the song," chuckles Byford.

It will also feature alongside the track "No Rest For The Wicked" in the forthcoming movie "Hybrid Theory", a sci-fi thriller which follows a group of British soldiers who find themselves in a life or death battle with an enemy far beyond their wildest nightmares. The film is directed by James Erskin, who made "One Night In Turin" about England at the World Cup in 1990.

"We've done our darker albums, our full-on metal albums, we've been to those spaces and experimented with them and people came on the journey with us," says Byford, "and with 'Call To Arms' you have the culmination of those 10 years and the 20 years before it. I love this album. I love the songs. I love the sounds. It's right on the money."

TARJA TURUNEN Performs With THE 69 EYES Singer On Finnish TV (Video)

Former NIGHTWISH frontwoman Tarja Turunen performed a duet with Jyrki 69 from THE 69 EYES during the "Idols Tekee Hyvää" live TV broadcast on the Finnish channel MTV3 on Easter Sunday, April 24. The proceeds of the event, which brought the popular American format "Idol Gives Back" to Finland for the first time, were being directed to education projects for children and teenagers in poverty-stricken countries such as Haiti and Cambodia.

Turunen released a new digital-only single, "Underneath", on April 22. "Unseen", the seventh studio album from Swedish metallers THE HAUNTED, has registered the following first-week chart positions:

The Swedish chart position marks the highest chart entry ever in THE HAUNTED's home territory.

"Unseen" was released on March 22 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records. The CD was once again recorded with longtime producer Tue Madsen (MOONSPELL, DARK TRANQUILLITY, GOREFEST, SICK OF IT ALL) at his Antfarm Studio in Århus, Denmark.

In addition to the regular CD as well as a limited LP version (180-gram black vinyl with the full album on CD as bonus!) and the digital download format of the record, a very special limited edition (pictured on top!) of "Unseen" was released in Europe as a silver-foil-wrapped digipak, including not only classy packaging and extended artwork but also three bonus audio tracks: The brand new song "Attention" as well as radio-session live versions of the tracks "The Reflection" and "The Fallout".

SATYRICON's Music Keeps Norwegian Baby From Crying (Video)

The parents of a Norwegian girl suffering from colic — a condition in which an otherwise healthy baby cries or screams frequently and, for extended periods, without any discernible reason — have found a way to keep her from crying: by subjecting her to the sounds of the Norwegian black metal band SATYRICON.

According to the couple, Bianca was crying from morning to night for 14 weeks straight— except when she heard SATYRICON's music. "We tried other [types of bands], something not as hard as SATYRICON. But even RAMMSTEIN was rejected," Bianca's mother, 37-year-old Jeanette Orme, tells the Fredriksstad Blad newspaper.

The medical definition of colic is a condition of a healthy baby in which it shows periods of intense, unexplained fussing/crying lasting more than three hours a day, more than three days a week for more than three weeks. However, many doctors consider that definition, first described by Morris Wessel, to be overly narrow and would consider babies with sudden, severe, unexplained crying lasting less than three hours/day as having "colic" (so-called "non-Wessel's" colic).

According to Mirror.co.uk, legendary guitarist Gary Moore died of a suspected heart attack, a postmortem revealed earlier today (Monday, February 7).

Moore died in his sleep yesterday morning, hours after checking into the five-star Kempinski Hotel in Estepona on the Costa del Sol, Spain with an unnamed female friend. He was 58 years old.

While forensic experts are satisfied Moore died from natural causes, they requested further tests on tissue samples taken from his body ahead of a final report.

A Spanish police spokesman said today, "Mr. Moore died of natural causes and his death is not in any way suspicious. An investigating magistrate has opened a standard inquiry to determine the exact cause of death."

British tabloid The Sun reported earlier today — apparently erroneously — that Moore choked on his vomit after knocking back champagne and brandy before being discovered around 4 a.m.

Greek death metallers HOMO IRATUS (also written as one word, HOMOIRATUS) have acquired a new singer, Alex (HUMAN REJECTION), for the band's upcoming shows and future recordings.

Alex (pictured below) made his live debut with HOMO IRATUS on September 30 when the group supported NAPALM DEATH in Thessaloniki, Greece.

HOMO IRATUS recently released a self-financed EP, "Truth Conquers All", and is currently writing material for a new full-length CD.

The CD landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Melissa Auf der Maur (MAdM) unveiled the first chapter of her multimedia solo project OUT OF OUR MINDS (OOOM) with a new album, which was released in March. Dynamic, multilayered and independently produced, OOOM is described in a press release as "a 21st-century concept project that includes a solo album, short film, comic book, live performances, gallery presentations and several viral components." A "choose your own adventure" — one can collect and consume all the parts, or each part can exist on its own.

BEHEMOTH: Frontman Diagnosed With Leukemia

BEHEMOTH frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski has been diagnosed with leukemia.

According to reports, the disease is in advanced stages to where chemotherapy is not an option for treatment. Nergal will most likely need a bone marrow transplant.

Reports indicate that Nergal’s fiance has donated bone marrow, but it has not been determined if there will be a DNA match.

This is very sad news for all metal fans, many of whom have already shown incredible support. Other Polish artists are currently organizing concerts to help raise awareness of Nergal’s condition, although no artists or concert dates have as yet been announced. Nergal is currently undergoing a multi-stage, months-long treatment at Gdansk Medical University Hospital and all BEHEMOTH tour dates indefinitely canceled for the foreseeable future.

This is the unexpected clarification of Nergal’s very hopeful statement earlier this month.

Greek extreme metallers SEPTICFLESH are hard at work on material for their new album, tentatively due in early 2011. The recording process is scheduled to begin in August at the band's own newly built Devasoundz studios in Athens. Once again the orchestral parts will be recorded in Prague under the guidance of Chris Antoniou (CHAOSTAR). This time, the band's effort "is bound to expand its dark and dreamy soundscapes and will be enhanced" by the mixing job of producer PAIN/HYPOCRISY mainman Peter Tägtgren (AMON AMARTH, MARDUK, THERION, CHILDREN OF BODOM, CELTIC FROST, IMMORTAL).

Commented SEPTICFLESH: "The creation of the 10 songs that will appear on the next album is approaching the final stage. The musical result can be described as a great mass of emotional death. One of the dominant elements of the album is the use of the characteristic guitar melodies of the band in a more intense and dramatic way. In combination with the orchestral parts that will surpass everything else that the band has done in the past, the sound resembles to a funeral concerto. The artwork created for the new DIMMU BORGIR album Abrahadabra by German artist / painter / graphic designer Joachim Luetke (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Sopor Aeternus) can be viewed below.

The word "abrahadabra" (which roughly translates into "I will create as I speak") first publicly appeared in Chapter III of Liber AL vel Legis (commonly referred to as The Book of the Law) written by Aleister Crowley in Cairo, Egypt in 1904.

DIMMU BORGIR singer/songwriter Shagrath shares the following about the new album:

“After eleven months of total focus, dedication and professional team work, Darkness has been reborn. Some people have expressed their concern about the future of the band since the departure of some members of the clan. Let me assure you that things happen for a reason. The black flame burns brighter than ever before. With the mixture of our different musical preferences and the personalities involved, I will dare to say we have created a BEAST, the most detailed work to date out of our 17 years of existence. I know it’s too much of a cliché to brag when you have a done a new album, but to put it short and simple, it’s a fist in the face to all the doubters out there. Forward – Onward - March... ENTER THE SUPREME UNKNOWN.”

For the second time in the band’s career (i.e. 1996’s Stormblåst), a one-word album title breaks the tradition of a three-word album title for a new studio release dating back to DIMMU BORGIR’s 1994’s debut, For All Tid.

Guitarist/songwriter Silenoz has this to say on the topic:

"We knew there would be some big changes with this album in more than one way and since we've had the three word title tradition for many years now, we thought it'd make a lot of sense for us to move on from that. It has served its purpose. We are a band that's all about change and moving forward. An album title consisting of one word goes hand-in-hand with the new material - it describes both the musical and lyrical content in a more imaginary way, not to mention the unity and the everlasting flame which is DIMMU BORGIR. Expect the unexpected!"

When asked about the central figure in the artwork and who/what he’s supposed to represent, artist Joachim Luetke responds:

“I think that’s obvious. Since the whole ‘setting’ is located in an icy, bleak, winter-y, post-industrial era, we’re pretty close to H.P. Lovecraft’s nameless elder gods. They’re represented by the mask’s tentacles. In short: the mask/face personifies dominion of powers far beyond mankind. The nameless gods witnessed the birth of our universe and they’ll watch it implode. To them, the age of mankind is but a blink of an eye.”

Abrahadabra will be released in Germany on September 24th, in the rest of Europe on September 27th, and in North America on October 12th.

Chicago hard rockers DISTURBED will release their new album, "Asylum", on August 31 via Reprise Records. The CD will follow up the group's 2008 release, "Indestructible", their fourth million-seller in a row and third No. 1 album.

A video teaser for "Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants", the new album from reformed Greek metallers NIGHTFALL — featuring frontman and lyricist Efthimis Karadimas alongside Evan Hensley on guitar, Stathis Kassios on keyboards and Jörg Uken on drums — can be viewed below. The CD is scheduled for release on August 30 via Metal Blade Records. The cover artwork was created by Travis Smith.

"Astron Black And The Thirty Tyrants" was recorded at various places, including Soundlodge in Germany, where the bulk of the sessions took place. It was produced by Karadimas and Uken (who has previously worked with GOD DETHRONED, DEW-SCENTED and SINISTER). According to a press release, Jörg’s "experience behind the recording desk and his soul in recording both as the new drummer of the band is a great plus for the whole production and for everybody truly into metal drumming the… old classic metal way!"

Regarding the new CD title, the group previously stated, "Tyrants represent the punishment accrued from our own actions, the allegoric way. But what about the first part of the title, Astron Black?

Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he parted ways with longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde because it was becoming more and more difficult to be sober around someone who drank so heavily.

The Black Label Society star has been replaced by Gus G in Ozzy's touring line-up and now the rock legend has explained the real reason behind his decision to end his long professional relationship with Wylde.

Osbourne tells Guitar World magazine, "Zakk came in at the beginning of the new one (record), but he was still drinking. When you're drunk and somebody else is drinking, it's OK, but when you're sober and somebody's blabbering away in your ear, it ain't. I mean, Zakk's a great player and I love him. I love his playing. But in the end, it came to the point that I had to get another guitarist.

"It was hard for me to be around someone who is actively drinking. I heard he's not drinking anymore. I don't know if that's true or not.

"I love his playing; he's one of the greats. But it was the drink getting the better of him. I couldn't watch him die. In one sick respect, it was good for me to see, because that's what I was like, and worse. Believe me, if I started drinking now you'd think, 'F**k, this is b**locks! I've got to get out of here.'

That's how I felt around Zakk toward the end."

But the Brit insists he and Wylde are still good friends.

He says, "We're like family."

Ο γράφων, γύρισα το πρωί απο Μαλακάσα (terravibe), όπου απόλαυσα μαζί με χιλιάδες συνοπαδούς, τη μεγαλειώδης πραγματικά συναυλία, του φαινομένου που ονομάζεται Rammstein.
Αυτά που είδαν τα ματάκια μας, μόνο απο τους ίδιους μπορούμε να ξαναδούμε-ξανακούσουμε-ξαναβιώσουμε. Απο κανέναν άλλον. Εδώ κυριολεκτώ και επιμένω.
Αν εξαιρέσουμε κάποια ψιλοπροβληματάκια (καθυστέρησαν να βγούν στη σκηνή), οι Γερμανοί παρέδωσαν μαθήματα επαγγελματισμού και μουσικής ιδιοφυίας.
Υπέροχοι.

Άξιοι αναφοράς το support group, οι Νορβηγοί Combichrist (oι οποίοι παρουσιάστηκαν παλαιότερα απο την στήλη), παίζοντας σφιχτοδεμένο industrial electro. Πολύ καλοί.

For all true football fans, in celebration of the World Cup 2010 kicking off this Friday, Sky Sports scored an interview with one Ozzy Osbourne this week. A little gem from that interview includes, Ozzy quipping: “The only World Cup I remember was in 1966.” Americans may not realize, but this is when England first won the World Cup…

“The only World Cup I remember was in 1966 when England played West Germany in the final and Bobby Moore was the captain,” he said. “When it got to the last goal in extra-time it was brilliant.

“I was in my house with my parents where I grew up. We were watching on a black and white TV and you could hear a pin drop when the match was on because my father was well into it.

“I wasn’t into it so much, I was more into the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle back then. I’m not really a dedicated follower of soccer, but 1966 was very memorable to me. It was unbelievable.

“I was about 18 years old, but there weren’t any parties afterwards, we had no money for parties, a party was a black eye in them days.

“I had a girlfriend watching the football with me, I think. She was trying to talk to me and I was like, ’shut up!’”

DISTURBED: New Song Preview Available

A teaser clip for "Another Way To Die", a brand new song from Chicago heavy rockers DISTURBED, can be viewed below. The track is the first single from the band's new album, "Asylum", which is due this fall via Reprise Records.

"Another Way To Die" will go for radio adds and be made available via iTunes on June 15.

"Asylum" is the follow-up to the band's 2008 platinum effort, "Indestructible", which spawned the Active Rock smash single "Inside the Fire".

As with "Indestructible", DISTURBED self-produced "Asylum", which the band began writing in September 2009 and recording in February of this year. Vocalist David Draiman describes it as "still identifiably DISTURBED, but showing more maturation. We feel this is one of the strongest bodies of work we've ever put together. It definitely goes in familiar areas, but with new levels of precision and skill."

Lyrically, Draiman says, the themes "range from very personal and introspective, to the political and provocative. What would you expect? No songs about puppy dogs or rainbows here."

"We want this record to be a shining example of how the years have made us stronger," Draiman says. "We want it to be an album that helps people get through their own trials and tribulations, as always."

Mexico's metal podcast "Familia Perro" recently conducted an interview with Morten Veland (guitar, vocals) and Ailyn (vocals) of the Norwegian/Spanish female-fronted gothic metal band SIRENIA. The chat is now available for streaming using the audio player below. (Note: Morten Veland's answers are in English, but Aylin's are in Spanish because she was born in Spain and Spanish is her native language.)

SIRENIA drummer Jonathan A. Perez sat out the "Beauty & The Beast Tour" (with ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES, ELIS and STREAM OF PASSION) in late 2009 in order to spend time with his wife and newborn child. His temporary replacement was Roland Navratil from DIGNITY.

"The 13th Floor", the latest album from SIRENIA, debuted at No. 149 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"The 13th Floor" was released in Europe on January 23, 2009. The CD was tracked at Sound Suite Studios in France and Stargoth Studios in Norway while the mixing and mastering sessions took place at the Antfarm Studios in Denmark with Tue Madsen.

SIRENIA's video for the song "The Path To Decay" was shot in Gothenburg, Sweden with director Patric Ullaeus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL) of Revolver Film Company.

SIRENIA recruited singer Ailyn (born: Pilar Giménez García) as the replacement for Monika Pedersen, who left the group in 2007 after only one album due to "musical differences."

Ailyn is best known as a member of the young team in the Spanish version of "The X Factor", the biggest television talent competition in Europe.

"I know it's been a few silent months, but this time we decided to be pretty quiet about the recording process of [FIREWIND's] new album. "Anyways, before we go into revealing more info, we recently did a very fun project which was to be a part of Metal Hammer U.K.'s tribute CD to JUDAS PRIEST!
"We actually recorded everything for that cover song in our home studios and then passed over the files to Fredrik Nordström [at] Studio Fredman in Sweden for the mix. This also marks our first recording with our new drummer, Michael Ehre [ULI JON ROTH, KEE MARCELLO], and the end result is killer (in our humble opinion), as we got to cover one of metal's most classic songs, 'Breaking The Law'!

Greek guitarist Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND, DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY) has issued the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"On the night of May 16th, I was shocked to read the news. Ronnie James Dio, a true rock giant, is no longer with us.
"My condolences go out to his family and close ones and my thoughts are with you.
"His music with DIO, BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW has had a huge impact on me and FIREWIND's sound. One of the bands I used to play in also got its name from one of his songs — that was DREAM EVIL. "While I never had the chance to meet him, FIREWIND played a festival with HEAVEN & HELL in 2009 and I got to see him perform. No doubt, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen and I was amazed by his energy and how spot-on all his notes were.

Vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH has posted the following message on the band's web site regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):

"I saw the news last night and I hated them.

"Ronnie James Dio is gone…. I love him almost like a family member, and I feel empty and lonely knowing he's not around anymore. He sits on my wall as he has since my family moved in here. Can't bring myself to hear him sing right now, even though I think it might be comforting if I did.

"I was fortunate enough to meet him and share a few drinks with him once, and it's a memory I will treasure to the end of my days. He blew my mind, quite honestly.

"Thank you, Ronnie James Dio, for everything!

"Our collective condolences goes out to his families and friends and the musicians that were fortunate enough to work with him.

"I was thinking about this for quite some time, and I think we can say for sure that even if he was taken from us too soon (100 years from now would've been to soon), I'm sure he felt happy with his life and what he had achieved. But it hurts, though, it really fucking hurts…. I can't stop thinking about it.

"There is a massive hole in my heart.

Ο μύθος πλέον της αγαπημένης μας μουσικής, Ronnie James Dio δυστυχώς δεν κέρδισε την μάχη με την επάρατη νόσο και κατέληξε σήμερα Κυριακή 16 /05/2010 στις 07:45 το πρωί, στην ηλικία των 67 ετών.
Την ανακοίνωση του θανάτου του, έκανε η αγαπημένη του σύζυγός και μάνατζερ, Wendy, η οποία αναφέρει:

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.

"We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.

"Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.

"Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."
