FIREWIND/OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Gus G. was interviewed by Elixir Strings at this year’s NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 14-17, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Watch the chat below.
Gus G. recently designed a new guitar: the LTD Revolver EC. Based on the single-cutaway ESP Eclipse shape, this guitar is insanely cool and totally unique. It features a custom graphic finish along with custom "Gus Fire" inlays. Unlike most EC models, the new Revolver EC has a 25.5" scale with set through construction, and features a mahogany body with a maple neck (22 XJ frets) and rosewood fingerboard. It also offers Seymour Duncan Blackout ABH-1 active pickups, with a single volume control and an on-off mini switch. The Revolver EC uses black nickel hardware, including ESP locking tuners and a Tonepros TOM bridge and tailpiece.
As for the art design on the guitar, Gus wanted to go for something different this time. So he teamed up with Patric Ullaeus and Bjorn Johansson who came up with the graphic and the whole concept of "RockART."
Patric Ullaeus is an acclaimed director and photographer and among other acts, he has shot three FIREWIND videos and has also been the band’s photographer since 2006.
